Functional Anatomy for Yoga Teachers: Part II

  • Sanctuary Bodyworks 710 South Ann Street Baltimore, MD, 21231 United States (map)

A workshop for yoga teachers

Note: You can attend Part II of this workshop on it's own, without having attended Part I

Learning anatomy, like any advanced training, requires time, repetition and concentration. That sounds a lot like asana practice to me.

Anatomical & movement terminology, musculoskeletal anatomy and biomechanics; are these topics intimidating or intriguing? Either could be an impetus to further your studies. Greater knowledge in these subject matters will enhance your teaching by having you develop an understanding of what is happening ‘inside’ as we practice asana.

In this 9 hour workshop we will explore the language of anatomy and movement as well as bony and muscular anatomy. You will have the opportunity to put this knowledge into practice thru hands on participation in palpation and assisting labs, experiential drills and asana practice. We will also delve into relevant related topics such hands on assisting and common yoga injuries.
